BE Campbell is a third-generation, family-owned company based in Sydney with a national footprint. Employing more than 750 people, the business has a longstanding reputation for operational excellence and strong customer service across supermarkets, foodservice, butchers and distributors.
The Campbell Family will retain a significant stake and remain in the management team, continuing to run the day-to-day operations of the business. Allegro’s investment will enable BE Campbell to accelerate its existing growth strategy, including capital upgrades to its processing footprint, investment in new product formats, and a strengthened commercial platform to better serve customers across Australia.
“We are excited to partner with Ted Campbell, the Campbell family and the whole BE Campbell team. We’re impressed with what they have built over the business’s long and rich history – BE Campbell is a category leader with a strong track record of growth,” said Jeffrey Largier, Managing Director at Allegro Funds.
BE Campbell Chairman Ted Campbell said the family was excited about the partnership with Allegro: “This business has grown steadily over the past 55 years. We’re looking forward to the partnership with Allegro as we enter this next phase of growth. The Campbell Family are remaining in the business as shareholders and executives. We look forward to working with our longstanding growers, suppliers, customers and staff to continue to deliver market leading products to Australian consumers.”
Allegro has a strong track record of partnering with founder-led and family-owned businesses to drive transformative growth.
Allegro was advised by Ashurst, EY, Skye Capital and Greenmount for this transaction. BE Campbell was advised by Miles Advisory, Alvarez and Marsal, and Mills Oakley.
